With petroleum-based gas prices on the rise, many of the auto manufacturers are looking to alternative energy sources and flex-fuels. One of those sources is ethanol. General Motors alone claims to have over two million vehicles currently on the road that are capable of using E85 (a 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline blend). One of the factors that makes ethanol appealing is the fact that it can be sourced from plant-based materials instead of fossil fuels.
